Never give a baby an apple!!

This happened a while ago, but I thought I'd share the story. We met Luis in Oxnard some time during the week before Mother's Day. We decided to go eat and then we headed home in our seperate cars. Of course Luis helped me put the kids in the car, since there are three of them. Well for some reason Chone decided to sit in the back seat. I'm driving and Lili starts coughing. I ask Chone if Lili is okay and she tells me, "She's eating a rotten apple!" I think, "What, where did she get that!" I know that me and Chone are always eating fruit in the car and usually leave the apple cores or banana peels in the car, but not in the back seat. Lili continues to cough/coke. I'm driving and look for a place to pull over as Chone says, "She threw up!" So I pull into some parking lot and stop, get off the car, and open the back seat door to see Lili with throw up all over the car seat straps, but she is okay. I clean her up and see that she has the full apple that I had put in the car in case me or Chone needed a snack. It has a big chunk missing (see picture). I call Luis and ask him why he gave Lili an apple?!?! I tell him she bit a piece off and choked and threw up! That I had to pull over off the road! He tells me, in spanish of course, "I didn't give it to Lili, I gave it to Felix." Are you kidding me!!!!!!! Okay, Felix doesn't have teeth, but Lili's car seat is right next to him and she takes everything away from him! He knows that! He says sorry, and I take a deep breath and count to three. I know guys/new dads dont think of these things all the time, or hardly ever. I remember to be glad that everyone is okay and that the parking lot was right there when I needed it. Close call.

Haircut for Chone

The day before the baptism Chone got a haircut.
Before...
After...

I'm trying to let her bangs grow out since they were always in her eyes! I want to try to convince her to get layers and go shorter for the summer, something like Cassie's hair, but shorter. What do you think?

Baptism

The baptism was great! Thank you for everyone who came to the church and everyone who came to celebrate with us at the park. The kids did really good. Felix did get fussy towards the end, but he had Roseola! He was covered with red spots. I am so happy that my sisters could both be Ninas to my babies. I know Joey will be an awesone Nino, and after knowing Mikey for so long (longer than Luis) it fits perfect to have him as Felix's Nino.
Lili with Ninos Joey& Lisa
Felix with Nino Mikey & Nina Mercy (can't see her, she's behind the priest)
The babies, Ninos, parents, and BIG sister!

She Crawled!

Lili finally crawled for the first time, and she is all pro at it! Now we have two crawlers!! Let the fun begin!! At least we have the grass outside now for them to crawl around on :)

Teething/Fever

Felix is major teething. I can't even tell how many teeth he is getting right now! But they look like big teeth, they hurt him, and they are taking a while to cut through the gums. My poor baby! He has had a fever since Wednesday night. I hope it's just the teething that is causing the fever, but as a precaution i have been feeding the twins with seperate bowls and spoons. Other than that, Lili is still almost crawling. She had been such a happy, smiling all the time, play by myself on the floor for hours baby lately! Which is great cause Felix is a crying, not happy, not eating, hold me all day baby right now. We are getting ready for baptism/birthday party which is this weekend! I hope felix gets better by then!

We have grass!!!

After coming home to a yard that made me feel like I was in Tijuana, we finally have grass!!! They pulled it out months ago, but then started other projects like putting cement and stuff. Finally we have a yard that is so green! No more all brown, I get depressed when I look outside yard! This what it looked like when they started to put in the grass in the back yard.

A few hours and a lot of hard work later...

The front yard looks awesome, too! I love to open my front door now and look out! Now I need to get some plants planted along the edge to add some color.

Thank you to my parents and Luis for working so hard all weekend to put in our grass!

Tio Miguel was also working hard. He helped dig some trenches for the sprinklers that needed to be added, and put in a light, a switch, and an outlet on the back patio. I didn't know he was such an electrician (that was one of Chone's spelling words this week)! Thank you Tio!

LOL

Lili was cracking up at Chone. Only Chone can make her laugh like this! Felix just watched Chone with a "sign here" sticker on his forehead.

So Tired!

Lili was so tired she fell asleep in the exersaucer. ( i think that's what they're called) When i woke her up she looked at me with a big sleepy smile. it was so funny!

Mother's Day

Since Luis is still on Mexico time, I got my Mother's Day present today. Luis is usually the guys who brings flowers home on Feb. 15th, or askes you what you want for your birthday and gets it, or has you pick out your own X-mas gift. So I was suprised when I got up to get Chone ready for school and went to the bathroom and I saw a red box with a gold ribbon on a note that said Happy Mother's Day (in spanish of course). I opened it and this is what it was! Chone, Felix, and Lili. They were all born in August, so they all have the same birthstone. I was very happy!
So Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there, especially my Mom, my sister Lisa, and my Mother-In-Law, Raquel, in Mexico!
Side story... Luis says that every year since he's been in the US, on Mother's Day, he can never get through the phone lines to call his Mom, since everyone is calling their Mom's in Mexico. Well this year he called during a break at work and actually got through! But no one answered the phone!!! So he left a message, and tried to call again through out the day, but of course couldn't get through the line!

This kid won't stop!

Seriously! One week after he started crawling, look at him! He can get on his knees and hold on to the couch by himself, and can stand with just a little help to keep his balanced. He likes to stand against the couch, or my bed. I don't encourage this cause he falls hard when he looses balance. But Luis keeps showing him how to do these things! He is getting pretty fast at crawling, especially when I'm sweeping. He also got another tooth. The other middle bottom one. You can finally see the first one that came in. He looks so funny with teeth! Lili is getting closer to crawling. She gets up on her hands and knees now, but she is really into dancing. If she is on her stomach, she will bop her head up and down. If she is sitting, she will pop out her chest. It's so funny! Check out Elaine's blog for a video.

Peas please

Since Felix choked on a baby cookie, I haven't been giving them any real food. I was scared. But they are already 8 months, so I need to start at least a little. So I gave them some peas. Lili can use her pincher grasp (pointer and thumb) and pick up the peas. Felix just smashed them (what a boy!), but would eat them when I put them in his mouth. I don't know how, but Felix got a piece of pea in between his eyes. Lili had a pea birthmark over her lip for a while, but I didn't get a picture. No choking! Let the eating real food began!

First on the first

First Felix decided that I left the cereal to close to him. He actually partically stood on his chair so he could reach the bowl. Dumped it everywhere, and I found him licking the bowl as Lili stared in disbelief. Notice the spoon and spilled cereal on the floor, too.

Then the twinkies got to use thier net food eating thing for the first time. I put pinapple in it. They loved it!!

Then I guess cause I wouldn't take him to the immigration marches, Felix decided to start crawling for him Dad's immigration rights. Si se puede!
